Job Description
The Advancement Events Assistant works under the direction of the Assistant Director of Advancement Events and is responsible for coordinating and managing assigned office projects. Duties may include but are not limited to: providing ticket and RSVP management, student project management, administrative support, event logistics, space reservation, vendor ordering and payment, writing copy for social media, websites, mailing preparations, answering phones for the advancement office, and other special projects as assigned. Night and weekend work may be required as the schedule dictates, daily office hours may be adjusted to accommodate those needs.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of office and event management
- Strong organizational skills and working with multiple teams within the University.
- Proficiency in customer service and in interpersonal and organizational communication.
- Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues/problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher-level staff and/or management.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team when required
- Self-starter with the ability to be proactive and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge, skill and abilities in special events area, and interactions with vendors and the public.
- Knowledge of database management and spreadsheet applications in conformity with standardized software.
- Ability to write concisely, to express thoughts clearly and to develop ideas in logical sequence.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and material is critically important
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Windows/Microsoft Office computer applications.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of office and event management

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferably in communications, events or related field.
Knowledge of Raisers’ Edge
Previous work in events
Previous experience in the management of volunteers
Previous public speaking experience
